Three and easy for Rovers
Threave Rovers have made three more signings – and another is on the way.
Grant Learmont, Phil Middlemiss and Ryan Coates have all moved to Meadow Park, with boss Vinnie Parker working on a deal for Ryan Adamson.
Learmont and Adamson were both with Heston Rovers last season and Coates was with Lochar Thistle while Middlemiss returns to Threave after a seven-year spell away, part of which was spent in Australia.
Parker said:“Grant is a big signing for us. He’s very experienced.
“He’s got over 300 appearances in the South of Scotland league.
“He was thinking about retiring but I think he can still do a decent job for us and have brought him here. He’s a decent lad as well.
“Phil is very fast. He had a spell over in Australia and was with us at Dalbeattie a few years ago.
“You could see that he had matured, his game as well.
“He was always a good player but his end product was maybe lacking a bit but he has worked on that.
“Ryan Coates coming in gives us a bit of strength in depth.
“I think he’s still maybe a bit raw but he is in the right environment to work on that.
“I‘ve also spoken to Ryan Adamson and am hoping to get him signed up as well.
“He’ll give us some options as he can play through the middle or on the left.”
Threave have also been boosted by Adam Uphill and Jack McMurdo signing new deals along with Liam Patterson who is getting ready for his 15th season.
The only thing left to be resolved now is when the new campaign will start with action unlikely to begin until October at the earliest.
Parker added:“We had been hoping to get some non-contact stuff towards the end of the month but it doesn’t look like that will be happening now, especially with the recent spike in cases the area.”
