Sahej Rahal Glasgow

The Guardian - The Guide - - Exhibitions -

Created by the Mumbai-based Rahal, Barricadia is an imaginary land of battling monstermen, in which an apocalyptic atmosphere of HP Lovecraft sci-fi is infiltrated by memories of Indian folk legends and concerns about Islamophobic lynchings. Sculptural protagonists assembled from clogged-up chicken wire and junk are set against a backdrop of looming charcoal and ink. Videos obliquely take their scripts from grimoire books of sorcerous spells. It’s a theatre of the absurd for an internet-savvy post-truth time.
