Beyoncé has given birth to twins, reports claim
The singer Beyoncé gave birth to twins at a hospital in Los Angeles last week, according to reports on several celebrity news websites that cited unidentified sources. Yesterday Beyoncé’s father, Mathew Knowles, also wrote on Twitter: “They’re here! #beyonce #twins #jayz #happybirthday.”
The R&B star, who is 35, and her partner, the rapper and music producer Jay Z, already have a five-year-old daughter named Blue Ivy.
E! News, citing unidentified sources, reported the births and that Jay Z and Blue Ivy had been seen at a Los Angeles area hospital on Thursday.
Us Weekly, also citing multiple unnamed sources, reported that the twins, which it said were a boy and a girl, were born last Monday.
“Bey and Jay are thrilled and have started sharing the news with their family and closest friends,” one source told People magazine.
A representative for Beyoncé did not respond to a request for comment.
The performer, one of the most powerful women in the music business, announced the pregnancy on her Instagram account in February with an image of her posing in underwear and caressing her belly. The announcement had more than 8m “likes” in 24 hours, making it the “most liked” Instagram post ever.
Blue Ivy’s birth caused a paparazzi frenzy in 2012, with New York’s Lenox Hill hospital shutting part of its maternity wing to accommodate the family.
