Hospital inquiry

We exclusively revealed yesterday that an inquiry into Scotland’s hospitals will run for at least three years.

“Yet more evidence of the scale of the problems surrounding the QEUH project. A scandalous situation.”

Andrew Mcmillan, heraldscotland.com

“Nice to see the SNP have their priorities right. Another contract to their pals whose job it will be to see that the SNP Government are held blameless as always.

“I wonder if any contracts have been let for specialist engineering firms to advise the enquiry, or medical specialists to review the medical submissions?”

Michael Kent, heraldscotland.com

“Further evidence that transparency and accountability are being eroded under the SNP. How long before Nicola sets up her ministry of truth?”

William Jeffrey, heraldscotland.com

“What is quite interesting is the number of hospitals and even public schools that have been built and not been capable of employing sufficient staff to open them.

“The UK should stop draining third world countries of medical staff. Train them and insist they stay for maybe five years is possibly a more sociable attitude. To boast of an NHS that covers all operations whatever is required, and not have enough home trained staff to accomplish this is an obscenity that I reckon will go down in history.

“Time to establish the standards of the NHS and even the welfare to meet what you can afford.”

Peter Smith, heraldscotland.com

“This is outrageous. No commercial concern would accept taking multiple years to investigate a problem like this. They would go out of business.

“Inquiries are a complete waste of our time and money, sadly. Did we benefit in any way from the Holyrood or trams inquiries?

“The child abuse inquiry chunters on. If an inquiry lasts longer than three months it’s a waste of time. It’s the Government equivalent to legally kick a problem into the long grass. All the culprits will be long gone.”

Yes over SNP

A former deputy leader of the SNP urged Nicola Sturgeon to put the Yes movement ahead of the SNP at next year’s Holyrood election.

“The only way we can get back in the EU is to be an independent state.

“Wishing or hoping for England to change its mind on Europe is literally a fantasy. Scotland has to take charge of her own future.we know now we can run our country better than anyone else. Brexit is still there.

“The ideological Tory tax dodge vanity project continues apace. Scotland has voted consistently to be an EU member.

“The last time Scotland’s voice was so wilfully disregarded the end result was the reinstatement of the Scottish Parliament.”

Marc Rich, heraldscotland.com

“Sturgeon will put Sturgeon first, then the SNP, then Separation, then the proportion of her ‘people of Scotland’ who worship her every word.

“After all of that she might think about doing her highly paid job and giving the welfare of Scotland a passing thought.”

Jo Lawrence, heraldscotland.com

“Blackford and Sturgeon after ruining the country now have another avenue of blame.

“Instead of blaming everything on Westminster for the SNP incompetence they can now add to the new party to blame too. “

David Robertson, heraldscotland.com

“The only credible pathway to independence within an EU to which the rest of Britain also belonged has now been removed. If ever given another independence referendum the Scots will see that, and I rather think Nicola knows that deep down, but she will keep up the rhetoric knowing a referendum will not happen in her lifetime.”
