MANAGEMENT BUYOUT BRINGS CLEAN START FOR SOAPWORKS
Management of Soapworks, which employs about 100 full-time staff at its base at Easterhouse in Glasgow, has bought the soap manufacturing business from French beauty products giant L’Oreal. The parties involved in the deal declined to disclose the price but, given that Soapworks describes itself as the UK’s largest soap supplier with an annual turnover of about £14m, it will almost certainly be millions of pounds. The deal was completed this week. Soapworks was set up in 1988 by the late Body Shop founder Dame Anita Roddick.
