Hamilton Park in festive form over 52% rise in footfall at racecourse
LANARKSHIRE racecourse Hamilton Park has reported a 52% increase in the volume of people using the venue, which is now utilised on almost 50% of days in the year.
With the racing season over at Hamilton Park and the Christmas party festivities well under way, the racecourse team is being kept busy thanks to a boom in numbers.
While the wet weather provided a challenging 2012 for all UK tracks, including Hamilton Park, management at the Lanarkshire racecourse have reasons to be cheerful thanks to a string of successes in growing the business as an events venue throughout the year.
Christmas will be the Racecourse’s most successful yet, with an 8% increase in festive business volume i n 2012 compared to 2011 and with more than 3,500 covers anticipated this year.
Throughout December the venue is hosting a range of celebrations for the festive period. With the development of shared parties or exclusive private events, there has been strong growth in this business.
Other developments this year include a 60% increase in the number of weddings held at the venue; a 52% increase in the numbers of people visiting the racecourse via non-race day events and an increase of 14 in the number of days the racecourse is used throughout the year. Hamilton Park chief executive Vivien Kyles attributes the business success story both to the hard work of her team and to the versatility of the venue in being able to accommodate all kinds of events. She said: “We have been working very hard on this side of the business in tandem with the racing for a number of years and this ongoing pattern of growth is proof that our hard work is paying off.”
