Hamil­ton Park in fes­tive form over 52% rise in foot­fall at race­course

LA­NARK­SHIRE race­course Hamil­ton Park has re­ported a 52% in­crease in the vol­ume of peo­ple us­ing the venue, which is now utilised on al­most 50% of days in the year.

With the rac­ing sea­son over at Hamil­ton Park and the Christ­mas party fes­tiv­i­ties well un­der way, the race­course team is be­ing kept busy thanks to a boom in num­bers.

While the wet weather pro­vided a chal­leng­ing 2012 for all UK tracks, in­clud­ing Hamil­ton Park, man­age­ment at the La­nark­shire race­course have rea­sons to be cheer­ful thanks to a string of suc­cesses in grow­ing the busi­ness as an events venue through­out the year.

Christ­mas will be the Race­course’s most suc­cess­ful yet, with an 8% in­crease in fes­tive busi­ness vol­ume i n 2012 com­pared to 2011 and with more than 3,500 cov­ers an­tic­i­pated this year.

Through­out De­cem­ber the venue is host­ing a range of cel­e­bra­tions for the fes­tive pe­riod. With the devel­op­ment of shared par­ties or ex­clu­sive pri­vate events, there has been strong growth in this busi­ness.

Other de­vel­op­ments this year in­clude a 60% in­crease in the num­ber of wed­dings held at the venue; a 52% in­crease in the num­bers of peo­ple vis­it­ing the race­course via non-race day events and an in­crease of 14 in the num­ber of days the race­course is used through­out the year. Hamil­ton Park chief ex­ec­u­tive Vivien Kyles at­tributes the busi­ness success story both to the hard work of her team and to the ver­sa­til­ity of the venue in be­ing able to ac­com­mo­date all kinds of events. She said: “We have been work­ing very hard on this side of the busi­ness in tan­dem with the rac­ing for a num­ber of years and this on­go­ing pat­tern of growth is proof that our hard work is paying off.”
