very deep to sneak past Gala. In the Borders in early season, it was Gala’s day by 16-9 with the normally highscoring Dundee team failing to register a try.

Ian Rankin, the Dundee coach, said: “Both sides will be desperate to reach the final. Our challenge will be to match our performance last week in beating Currie. Many followers said it was the best High performance for many years; the same intensity and accuracy will be required for a full 80 minutes if we are to topple Gala.”

Rankin makes one personnel change: Robbie Lavery, who was such an influence in the first half of the season, has now fully recovered from the wrist injury which has kept him on the sidelines for the last six weeks and returns at centre, moving Jack Steele to the wing and Ross Lemon to the bench. Otherwise the side has a very settled look.

Gala coach George Graham has been forced into two changes from the side that won so well at Ayr. Both are in the pack, where at hooker Craig Keddie comes in for the injured Russell Anderson and Chris Weir, who scored the only try in that home win, is at lock.

Graham commented: “Having beaten Melrose and Ayr in the last couple of weeks, it goes without saying that we look forward to this, the biggest game of our season. The last encounter between these two clubs was very close, so let’s hope we can give our bus-loads of travelling supporters something to cheer about.”

Today’s fans can benefit from a ticket offer for all spectators of half price entry to Dundee’s potentially title deciding final league game of this season. Paying supporters get discounted entry to the game against Stirling at Mayfield on May 7. Prediction Dundee dream alive RBS National Cup.
