Victory will make Bruce’s mask slip

The Herald - Herald Sport - - FA CUP SEMI-FINALS -

SHEFFIELD UNITED v HULL CITY Steve Bruce is prepared to go a bit daft in celebration if his Hull City team book a place in the FA Cup final by beating the side which gave him his first chance in management.

Fifteen years have passed since Bruce was handed the reins at Sheffield United, with Hull his eighth managerial post at just 53.

“I was a little bit headstrong and when you’re younger, you want to take on the world,” he sighed.

It did not work out, but it did for Bruce in the long run. He will walk out at Wembley and see himself staring back. Hull fans have taken to wearing masks of his face of late. “Oh dear, that’s all I need,” he said. “I’m going to take it all in good humour, I just hope the kids aren’t frightened by these masks.”
