It was a nice performance by an improving three-year-old as he swept two-and-a-quarter lengths clear of Extra Noble in the £50,000 totepool Royal Mile Handicap.

Sullivan said: “That’s my first ride for Mr Haggas and I’d say it’s the biggest win of my career. He really found a nice stride and is a lovely type of horse. Slightly easier ground would help and I think he has a bright future.”

Mukhmal could be Royal Ascotbound after impressing on his debut in the Bet toteplacepot Scottish Brocklesby Stakes under Dane O’Neill.
