UDDINGSTON produced a headline-grabbing display with a remarkable victory over Ayr at Cambusdoon. Seven days after posting a record-breaking 346-2, the Alloway side were reduced to 81 all out as Uddingston sealed a 125-run success. Skipper Bryan Clarke revealed his enforced absence from the team due to work inadvertently played a part in the win: “We’ve said for a long time now that we’re backing the younger guys and that’s what we did. Sam Allan opened in my place and scored a solid 37. For a 17-yearold, he plays with an old head. Mind you, he didn’t need us to tell him he should have scored his maiden league 50.” Aamir Gul and Allan laid the foundations with 41 and 37
