Billed as a pub and scullery with a Victorian look, The Smokin’ Fox has replaced The Hope on Glasgow’s Waterloo Street. It looks like a proper, old-school pub and there’s modern pub grub dishes such as Shetland mussels steamed with cider. Mezze is the latest in a wave of new Glasgow restaurants. On Tunnel Street, by The Hydro and SECC, it’s on the top floor of the Rotunda and showcases Mediterranean cuisine with Greek, Cypriot and Turkish influences. Specialties include char-grilled sea bream and kleftiko lamb shoulder. If you are looking for Mother’s Day ideas, why not take your seafood-loving mum to Cadiz, on Edinburgh’s George Street? The menu gives Scottish seafood a Spanish twist. Non-seafood lovers are catered for too, with dishes like roasted breast of chicken with morcilla. Mums in Glasgow could do worse than The Western Club tomorrow. Dishes on the Royal Exchange Square restaurant’s Mother’s Day menu include smoked salmon and crayfish tails, with quail egg, smoked caviar and lime dressing. Save money on dining out across Scotland with 5pm. Read reviews, check out menus and book hundreds of restaurant offers for free at
