Hutch­esons, in a grade A-listed build­ing on Glas­gow’s In­gram Street, has been re­fur­bished. The Grand Hall din­ing room is now known as the City Grill while the cafe bar is the speakeasy-style 158 Club Lounge. Own­ers James and Louise Rusk say the restau­rants will still ma­jor on Scot­tish steak and seafood. Wine bars in Ed­in­burgh are en­joy­ing a re­vival and a few weeks backs David Rams­den ex­panded out from The Dogs to launch The Fat Pony on Bread Street. Now An­drew Thomp­son has opened Clark & Lake on Gille­spie Place in Toll­cross. There are boards of meats and cheeses are served with breads, crack­ers and oat­cakes, with a choice of small plates in­clud­ing cau­li­flower frit­telle, zuc­chini fries and a pork Scotch egg. The Shore Grill and Fish House in North Queens­ferry prom­ises to have one of the best views in Scot­land when the Queens­ferry Cross­ing opens. Menu op­tions in­clude short rib cro­quet­tas with smoked gar­lic aioli, fruits de mer, bur­rata and her­itage toma­toes with pesto, ap­ple mint and smoked whisky salt.
