Shown to co­in­cide with the 25th an­niver­sary of Nel­son Man­dela’s trip to Scot­land, this doc­u­men­tary of­fers an in­ti­mate, deeply per­sonal re­flec­tion on the his­tory and ef­fects of South Africa’s apartheid pol­icy. Fo­cus falls on her fa­ther, Radha, an In­dian South African, whose par­ents saw their home and busi­ness taken away af­ter racist seg­re­ga­tion be­came law in the coun­try in 1948. Trav­el­ling to the UK seek­ing the ed­u­ca­tion he was de­nied at home, Radha at­tended Glas­gow Univer­sity, where he met and mar­ried white Glaswe­gian Mag­gie. The cou­ple, now in their 70s, jour­ney back to South Africa and re­flect upon their own fight against apartheid, while con­sid­er­ing how the coun­try has changed since Man­dela’s re­lease from prison.
