Get Shorty 9pm, Sky Atlantic

The Herald on Sunday - Sunday Herald Life - - Tv and Radio -

It’s getting hard to keep up these days. The first series of this comedy drama, loosely based on Elmore Leonard’s sly, sharp crime novel, only finished on Sky Atlantic about two months ago, and here’s season two already. As we return, Miles (an excellent Chris O’Dowd), the low-rent hitman turned movie producer, is hitting a downward spiral, with his angst over his divorce amplified by booze and debts. Meanwhile, as he anxiously awaits reaction to the first cut of his movie, The Admiral’s Mistress, he casts around for another project.

Elsewhere, his co-producer Rick (Ray Romano, forming a fine, slippery double act with O’Dowd), is leading a dicey double life, caught between the FBI and vicious gang boss Amara.
