Mane attraction

I WAS recently given an enjoyable pre-launch tour of Mactaggart & Mickel’s impressive new showhome at Red Lion.

This is a niche development of only 17 houses just off Mearns Road within a long-established area of Newton Mearns (a suburb which was largely built originally by Mactaggart & Mickel, which is now a fourth generation family-owned firm).

The Inchcolm showhome, exquisitely designed by interior designer Gerry Burke, is new, quite exceptional and unique to this development, inspired by the many bungalows Mac Mic built in the 1930s and ’40s.

This bungalow hybrid has four bedrooms, separate dining room, second sitting room, and spacious kitchen which is fully open to a sunroom with access to the rear garden.

There is also a ground floor family bathroom and en suite bedroom which is in keeping with the one-level tradition.

Upstairs, the second bedroom has en suite facilities and there is also a shower room.

This is Mac Mic at its absolute best, and the Inchcolm has completely won me over – they even have chimneys.

The showhome is open for viewing (a must) and prices here range from £409,995 to £594,995.

ROARING SUCCESS: The impressive Red Lion showhome at Mactaggart & Mickel’s Mearns Road development is inspired by the firm’s bungalow design from the 1940s.
