TV and radio presenter Heather Suttie gives us her view into the sights from her West End apartment ...

ARE YOU SITTING COMFORTABLY?

I’m lying on my French antique bed in my flat, propped up on lots of luxurious cushions with my dog at my feet. The space is light and bright as the massive windows fill the whitewashed room. It’s tranquil and I can hear the birds sing. The room is full of duck egg blue accessories which add an air of stillness to the surroundings – there’s not much clutter in this room and it’s great for relaxing, reading and sleeping. I read a book a week and it’s my favourite room to read in and unplug.

WHAT’S THE VIEW LIKE?

The bedroom looks out onto the lush gardens and trees of Glasgow’s west end and I can see the Kilpatrick Hills in the distance. It’s quiet as it’s off the road and because of the position of the window no one can see in.

FAVOURITE PLACE NEARBY?

The Botanic Gardens, where my Weimaraner Charlee loves to walk. I love the stillness and greenery and the river Kelvin. The trees are stunning in autumn. After a walk we’ll have an ice cream from the van outside the entrance near Byres Road. My dog loves a cone and I’d have a 99.

PERFECT NIGHT IN?

Fire on, candles lit, a classic movie or a box set on after dinner on the sofa with a cashmere blanket. Everything is geared towards comfort and cosiness, one of the reasons why I love autumn and winter. I’m currently working my way through Diana Henry’s Cook Simple book – her recipes are divine and easy to follow, with an emphasis on rustic and deeply satisfying staples.

LAST THING YOU BOUGHT FOR YOUR HOME?

A vintage mirror for the bathroom from a local charity shop. We recently bought the flat and we’re upgrading all the rooms. The idea is to have a wall full of vintage mirrors to make the bathroom lighter and brighter. I love mooching round charity shops and picking up something unique, it also supports good causes and keeps my spending in check and on budget.

IF I DIDN’T LIVE HERE…

I’d want to live in Hana on the Hawaiian island of Maui. It’s on the eastern end of the island with only 1300 or so people and is an undeveloped tropical paradise. I went there on holiday once to visit a friend who has a house there and it was nothing short of idyllic.

Heather Suttie is curating the MOXIE Pop Up Shopping Boutique, featuring vintage and pre-loved designer clothing, accessories, jewellery and more at the Blythswood Hotel on October 16, from 12 – 5 pm. No entry fee but donations welcome to epilepsy charity Muir Maxwell Trust.
