Does anyone remember the old Tamp Hop?

-

RECENTLY my memory took me to something from the 1950s and 1960s whichhadappealedtomythen teenage sense of humour and to quite a few of my contemporaries. I have trawled the internet for a photograph of the old Glasgow Stamp Shop in West Nile Street. The shop had a dark green frontage and the legend above had its three initial letters in gilt/ Gothic illustrated boxes such as the animated illustrated first lines of old bibles.

When viewed in a certain light the legend appeared to read “Lasgow Tamp Hop”, the gilt letters reflecting the light and becoming invisible. I have contacted the present owner of the Glasgow Stamp Shop and unfortunately he does not have a photo of it. I do hope that perhaps one of your readers may have one.
