Vi­o­lent storm hits north­ern France

NOR­MANDY: Vi­o­lent snow storms and winds of up to 90mph have hit north­ern France, in­jur­ing scores of peo­ple, leav­ing 200,000 homes with­out elec­tric­ity and strand­ing pas­sen­gers on a train overnight. The winds blew a tree on to train tracks in the Somme re­gion, trap­ping 210 peo­ple on board. Emer­gency ser­vices were called out 4,041 times to deal with the storm’s im­pact.
