Accused in court on terror attack charges
A TERROR suspect accused of carrying out a premeditated attack on Muslims as they left a mosque has been remanded in custody on murder and attempted murder charges.
Darren Osborne, 47, was arrested by police after allegedly ramming his van into worshippers in
Finsbury Park, north London on Monday.
One man died from multiple injuries while several others were injured in the attack.
No details were given in court about the number of attempted murder charges. Unemployed Osborne, of no fixed address in Cardiff, spoke only to confirm his identity when he appeared before Westminster Magistrates Court yesterday.
The suspect, who seemed to have a bruise around his left eye, will appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.
It is alleged he carried out a premeditated attack which was motivated by extreme political views and the hatred of Muslims. SCOTLAND’S chief constable has lost a legal challenge against a freedom of information ruling which it was claimed would have “a chilling effect” on the recruitment of police informants in the fight against organised crime.
Police Scotland refused to tell journalist Paul Hutcheon, who was planning to write an article for the Sunday Herald, how many Covert Human Intelligence Sources it had employed since 2013.
