Sturgeon urged to stop care closures
their jobs were at risk when letters were sent to residents revealing the closure.
John Gallacher, the Unison trade union’s Scottish organiser, said the charity’s management needed to explain what he called a disastrous decision.
The charity has said the homes singled out are no longer viable and will close within months, affecting around 160 frail residents and making 200 care workers redundant. Mr Gallacher said: “Nicola Sturgeon must intervene and ask how Bield Housing’s management team got themselves into this position. They must be held accountable.”
A Scottish Government spokesman said it was “engaging” with the Care Inspectorate on residents’ needs.
