First public outing for captivating art
gow which begins next month. The artworks chosen for the exhibition, entitled Narrative, were submitted to the 2017 Koestler Awards, a scheme which recognises artistic talent in prisons and secure homes.
Alongside traditional paintings and sculptures, will be needlecraft, poetry, films and “nail art” which was submitted from a women’s prison.
Ms Fagan, who has curated the exhibition, has described some of the work as “phenomenal”.
She added: “The chance to practise art should be available to everyone in the prison system, it can be a vital part of their rehabilitation.
“The exhibition will get people to think beyond their ideas of who prisoners are.”
