Lawson wants Chancellor out
FORMER chancellor Lord Lawson has called for Philip Hammond to be sacked from the job, claiming his actions on Brexit were “very close to sabotage”.
The Chancellor had said this week said he was not ready to spend billions of pounds to prepare for a “no-deal” scenario. Any spending should be delayed until the last moment, he added.
But the Prime Minister Theresa May later insisted “Where money needs to be spent, it will be spent.”
Asked if Mr Hammond had been grossly irresponsible, Lord
Lawson said: “I fear that he is unhelpful. He may not intend it, but in practice what he is doing is very close to [Brexit] sabotage.”
