In­quiry turns to nuns’ homes

FOR­MER res­i­dents of homes run by the Sis­ters of Nazareth are be­ing asked to sub­mit ev­i­dence to the Scot­tish child abuse in­quiry.

The in­quiry, chaired by Lady Smith, is ex­am­in­ing his­tor­i­cal al­le­ga­tions of the abuse of chil­dren in care and has been tak­ing state­ments from wit­nesses since last spring.

It will ex­am­ine Nazareth House in Aberdeen, Car­don­ald, Kil­marnock and Lass­wade in the spring of next year.

In­quiry of­fi­cials have asked those with in­for­ma­tion or ex­pe­ri­ence of th­ese four homes to come for­ward.

The sec­ond phase of the in­quiry is be­gin­ning next month.
