THE latest episode of Blue Planet II has been the most successful of the series so far.

Sir David Attenborou­gh’s wildlife series returned to screens on Sunday night, when the third instalment attracted an average audience of 11 million viewers, according to overnight figures.

The hour-long BBC One broadcast about coral reefs peaked at 11.3 million viewers and had a 45 per cent audience share.

The first episode of Blue Planet II had an average of 10.3 million overnight viewers, while the second had an average of 10.8 million.

The first episode of the series was found to be the most-watched programme of 2017, with 14.01 million viewers.
