Reduce fat to live longer, study finds
LOW-FAT diets can reduce the risk of dying young by almost one-fifth as well as improving obesity and diabetes, according to new research.
A study of more than 30,000 obese adults found they were 18 per cent less likely to end up in an early grave if they cut back on fat.
Dr Chenhan Ma, of Aberdeen University, said: “By implication our data support public health measures to prevent weight gain and facilitate weight loss using these types of diet.”
The study was published in the BMJ.
