Kate’s un­cle punched wife

THE Duchess of Cam­bridge’s un­cle has ad­mit­ted hit­ting his wife in the face and knock­ing her to the ground af­ter a drunken ar­gu­ment.

Gary Gold­smith, 52, used a closed fist to strike Julie-Ann Gold­smith out­side their home in cen­tral London, at around 1.20am on Oc­to­ber 13.

Pros­e­cu­tor Kate Shilton told West­min­ster Mag­is­trates’ Court yes­ter­day that Mrs Gold­smith fell down af­ter her husband threw what a wit­ness­ing taxi driver de­scribed as a “left hook”.

He will be sen­tenced on Novem­ber 21.

Gold­smith is the younger brother of Ca­role Mid­dle­ton, and at­tended the wed­dings of both Kate and Pippa.
