Hot property going for a song

The Herald - - OPINION -

SHOULD Antiques Roadshow bow to criticism from some quarters and decide not to film at Buckfast Abbey in September, there is possibly a lady in west London who could help out with a substitute venue.

Mrs Windsor is the name and big houses are all in the monarchical game. Though the Queen would never be so indelicate to express a preference for one television programme over another (Corrie v Eastenders, it would be the Stones/ Beatles/blur/oasis all over again), she is reckoned to have a soft spot for Fiona Bruce’s show.

Who knows, she might even join a queue in the Buckingham Palace gardens to have a little something valued. An item, for example, from her collection of quaint heaters. We know from previous photographs that she is the owner of a two-bar leccy fire. This week, in pictures of her greeting the president of Estonia, a fan heater, circa 1970, could be seen in the background.

Then again, imagine her face when some expert values both treasured items at just £50 tops. Best have a few jewels in your handbag as well, Ma’am.
