All aboard for the boat show

THE first ever Clip­per round-the-world race yacht proved a pop­u­lar at­trac­tion at Scot­land’s Boat­show 2018 which opened yes­ter­day.

Liza Lin­ton, left, and Nikki Ste­wart from Royal Yacht­ing As­so­ci­a­tion Scot­land were among those tak­ing the chance to have a closer view of the 60-foot Taeping now owned by Ocean Sail­ing Scot­land.

Thou­sands are ex­pected to head to Kip Marina, In­verkip this Oc­to­ber from all over the UK for the free-ad­mis­sion show. Run­ning un­til Oc­to­ber 14, vis­i­tors can ex­pect an amaz­ing ar­ray of new and pre-owned boats for sale – from a £500 dinghy to a £1 mil­lion power­boat.

Now in its 32nd year, it was ex­pected to be the big­gest yet with a new lay­out, ex­panded ex­hi­bi­tion ar­eas. Among the ad­di­tions for the 2018 show are 13ft-high mod­els, known as ma­que­ttes, of the world-fa­mous Kelpies.
