SCOTLAND’S men have qualified for the World League Semi-Final and will play at the event in London in June against the likes of England and Olympic champions Argentina.

It’s the first time Scotland have reached this stage and they can now play for a World Cup place.

It was a result in faraway Trinidad which put the Scots through – the USA beating Russia to finish third in the World League event there. Had the Russians won, they would have qualified instead.

Scotland made it cour- tesy of finishing third in their World League event in Belfast – and then sweated on events in Trinidad.

Head coach Derek Forsyth said: “I’m delighted. It was a tremendous effort by the team and staff in Belfast and they thoroughly deserve the opportunity.”
