Top guns Grange deliver a perfect 10
GRANGE held on to top spot in the Scottish Men’s National League Division One table in emphatic style, as Cammie Fraser scored a hat-trick in their 10-0 annihilation of Watsonians.
Irishman Frank Ryan opened the floodgates following a penalty corner before Duncan Riddell scored Grange’s second.
A double by Joe Waterston, plus goals by Callum Milne and Fraser, gave the hosts a 6-0 lead at halftime and there was no let-up in the second half – Fraser going on to complete his treble with Milne and Luke Cranney completing the rout.
Twelve-time champions Bromac Kelburne are one point behind in second with two games left, as they overcame a spirited but struggling Clydesdale 4-2.
The visitors raced into a two-goal lead through Lee Morton and Nick Finlayson, before Alistair Richmond pulled one back for Clydesdale.
Some good work by Morton allowed Ben Peterson to put Kelburne 3-1 ahead, but Danny Cain’s goal from a penalty corner kept nerves jangling until Finn Halliday put the result to bed.
Third-placed Grove Menzieshill had a busy weekend as they were first defeated 1-0 by Gordonians on Saturday in their bid to beat the drop – Ally Dougall on target.
Grove regrouped on Sunday to win 4-3 at Uddingston – Paul Martin scoring twice for the visitors with Aidan McQuade and Gavin Tomlinson also netting.
Steven Percy’s hat-trick was in vain for Uddingston, who also went down 3-0 by the Western Wildcats on Saturday with Adam McKenzie scoring a treble of his own.
Hillhead ended a threematch losing run with a 3-2 victory over Edinburgh University that lifted them out of the relegation play-off zone with Watsonians replacing them on goal difference.
