NTIMACY, gorgeous surroundings and space — these comprise the perfect honeymoon location. Here are three suggestions that may fit that bill.

In a hidden corner of Cambodia’s turquoise coast lie the islands of Koh Ouen (meaning “woman”) and Koh Bong (“man”). Like husband and wife, these two discreet islands sit side-by-side in the sparkling sea, earning them the name “Song Saa”, Khmer for “the sweethearts”. The Song Saa resort is secluded surrounded mostly by desert, but is still accessible by plane from Siem Reap. The design is inspired by that of Cambodian fishing villages, with thatched roofs and driftwood features. Each of the 25 villas has a private pool, as well as ocean views either on the hill, on the beach or over the water and all come with outdoor showers and day beds.

Honeymooners are invited to walk out to a candlelit and flower-strewn jetty, where Buddhist monks from the local temple are waiting to give them a blessing.

Ampersand Travel offers a seven-night package to Song Saa, starting from £4,460 all-inclusive per person (based on two people sharing a Jungle Villa), including return flights from London to Phnom Penh and transfers. www.ampersandtravel.com, 020 7289 6100

Sasaab is one of East Africa’s most dramatic and romantic lodges in the heart of the culturally rich Samburu. On the high banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, each of the nine rooms has views across the landscape of the Northern Frontier District towards the jagged peaks of Mount Kenya. The rooms are designed to a Moroccan theme and they measure a huge 100m² with enormous open-air bathrooms and vast beds, as well as a cooling private plunge pool. Spend your day on game
