Richard Schiff in brief

The Jewish Chronicle - - & Arts Books -

Born in Bethesda, Maryland, in 1955. His father was a property lawyer, his grandfather a chicken farmer. Lives with wife Sheila Kelly and their two children in Los Angeles. On acting: “Every time I act it’s like an Everest of fear. And I don’t have any oxygen.” On Judaism: “My family was not very religious at all. I got barmitzvahed in an age when it became less a part of everyday life.” On Jews in Hollywood: “The tradition in Hollywood is to cast the Jew as as blonde and blue-eyed as you possibly can. I think there’s a little self-hatred in the Hollywood [Jewish] community — maybe that’s what that’s about.”
