Racist video link to Leeds agitator
A PROMINENT Leeds solicitor has withdrawn an offer of a five-figure scholarship for Leeds University’s law school, after discovering that the man behind the move to gag its Jewish Society was carrying antisemitic material on his website.
Marilyn Stowe told the JC this week: “My argument is with Leeds University for allowing this to happen. I have been talking to them for some time about a scholarship, as a thank-you for my own student days, but that is now off until this is resolved. I have to take a stand about this.”
Akram Awad, the Palestine Solidarity Group activist who last month successfully persuaded Leeds students that they should ignore any complaints from the Jewish Society “as long as Judaism as a faith was not offended”, has now said that “if ” the material complained of does prove to be antisemitic, he will remove it from his website.
“We always say that we are not antisemitic, only anti-Zionist and anti-occupation. Anything that passes [certain] lines should be removed.”
The Other Israel, one of the films on his website, features American Christian evangelist Ted Pike, who declares: “There does exist a tendency for Jewish domination of our society.”
Mr Pike then asks viewers: “Can it be that such pervasive Jewish control we are seeing today is just the harbinger of even greater Jewish control to come?” Another film on Mr Awad’s site is The Agony: Deir Yassin, in which one frame is captioned: “The Jews snatched the son and threw him in the baking oven.” Mr Awad endorsed this film and said the oven incident was “history”.
On hearing quotes from The Other Israel, he said: “This is wrong… we always need to be careful and be advised when we exceed these limits. I am actually going to go back to this film and if it says what you say, I will remove it.
“Judaism as a faith is not an enemy. It is only Zionists, and the racist ideal of expelling Palestinians.”
