EM­BASSY DEATH

AN IS­RAEL For­eign Min­istry em­ployee died sud­denly at her coun­try’s UK em­bassy last week. Leah Nir-Sh­top­per, 43, worked in the min­istry’s com­mu­ni­ca­tion di­vi­sion. She com­plained of feel­ing un­well at work and died soon af­ter­wards. For­eign Min­istry spokesman Mark Regev said that her death was a tragedy. He added that Mrs Nir-Sh­top­per, who had worked for the For­eign Min­istry for more than 20 years, “was loved by her co­work­ers”. Lon­don was Mrs Nir-Sh­top­per’s sec­ond over­seas post­ing. She pre­vi­ously served in Geneva. She left three chil­dren, Danielle, 16, Shaked, 11, and Ma’ayan, four. She was buried in Jerusalem, the city of her birth, on Mon­day.

EX-US OF­FI­CER DIES

TONY Ber­man, a for­mer trea­surer of the United Syn­a­gogue, died in Is­rael on Satur­day aged 68. He was se­nior war­den of the Young Is­rael Con­gre­ga­tion of North Ne­tanya at the time of his death.
