AN ISRAEL Foreign Ministry employee died suddenly at her country’s UK embassy last week. Leah Nir-Shtopper, 43, worked in the ministry’s communication division. She complained of feeling unwell at work and died soon afterwards. Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev said that her death was a tragedy. He added that Mrs Nir-Shtopper, who had worked for the Foreign Ministry for more than 20 years, “was loved by her coworkers”. London was Mrs Nir-Shtopper’s second overseas posting. She previously served in Geneva. She left three children, Danielle, 16, Shaked, 11, and Ma’ayan, four. She was buried in Jerusalem, the city of her birth, on Monday.
EX-US OFFICER DIES
TONY Berman, a former treasurer of the United Synagogue, died in Israel on Saturday aged 68. He was senior warden of the Young Israel Congregation of North Netanya at the time of his death.
