MUCH LOVED by all sections of the Manchester Jewish and wider community, Golda Olsberg was fully involved in her husband’s communal duties.
Born Golda Landsberg in London’s East End, she was introduced to Manchester-born Leslie Olsberg by her late sister, Fay, whose husband, Rev Sam Wolfson, married the couple in Liv- erpool in 1951. Golda became devoted to Manchester and the community, in turn, embraced her. She was rebbetzen at Heaton Park shul for 33 years.
She chaired the Greater Manchester Synagogues Ladies Guilds, supported the 1970s Women’s Campaign for Soviet Jewry, and was active in the Girl Guides, the League of Jewish Women and Heaton Park Ladies’ Guild.
She is survived by her husband, three daughters, and nine grandchildren.
