The Jewish Chronicle - - COMMENT&ANALYSIS -

Re: JJ Rosner’s letter (October 12). There are several genes that predispose to bowel cancer in the Jewish population. The APC I1307K variant which was found by Laken and colleagues is just one of these genes. Most of the others are not known, and might occur only in Jews or in people of many different ethnic origins. The aim of our research is to identify these unknown genes so that they can be used for better genetic counselling in those of Jewish descent. We encourage JC readers to participate.
