Last Tues­day I at­tended the com­mu­nal event held in a cen­tral square in Buenos Aires to mark the World Sol­i­dar­ity Day for Is­rael’s MIA sol­diers ( Leader, Novem­ber 2). De­spite the in­cred­i­ble level of se­cu­rity in ev­ery com­mu­nal build­ing in Ar­gentina, hun­dreds turned out to demon­strate.

When I was asked about sim­i­lar events in the UK, I was em­bar­rassed to tell them about the small cer­e­mony in a com­mu­nity cen­tre in North Lon­don. This was truly a missed op­por­tu­nity.

It is not too late to be­gin plans to hold a big event to mark the plight of the MIAs. Let’s make up for lost time. Samuel Green St Leonards Rd, Sur­biton, Sur­rey, KT6
