How the bloggers greeted

The Jewish Chronicle - - SPECIAL REPORT -

Our story of the email leaked from Charles’s office was picked up by hundreds of newspapers worldwide. It also caught the attention of bloggers in the UK, Israel and the US. Most of them were not exactly diplomatic about the royal snub

According to Irene Lancaster, a Briton living in Haifa, Israelis don’t rate Prince Charles anyway:

“What is utterly ridiculous is the suggestion made in one of the emails that by visiting Israel, Prince Charles would somehow burnish its international image. I’ve got news for the man. Most Israelis think that Charles a total idiot. And many go further, blaming him for Princess Diana’s death. So it might well be the case that in coming here Prince Charles would actually be burnishing his own somewhat tarnished image. To many Israelis, Britain is already persona non grata because of all its boycott attempts and antisemitic discourse, which the royal family has done absolutely nothing to stem, and some might say, a fair bit to encourage.” irenelancaster.typeblog Aussie Dave agreed: “That’s rich. The man who expressed his desire to be reincarnated as a tampon actually believes he will boost our image.” israelly

One blogger asked why the royals embrace Saudi Arabia but shun Israel, a liberal democracy:

“England recently made a very big to do over a state visit from the King of Saudi Arabia, the land in which women are veiled, rape victims are beaten, thieves are dislimbed, and Bible owners are imprisoned and killed. That place is the antithesis of all Western values. However, it appears that royal England is less enthused about the single Middle Eastern nation that has a Western style rule of law, that provides equal rights and protection to women, and that allows freedom of worship… The royals are spinning frantically, and Israel is being polite, but the fact remains that the future king of England, who has long had a love affair with Islam, is pursuing a course that can only mean he welcomes the embrace of the seventh century and turns his back on the type of liberal
