The Jewish Chronicle - - COMMENT&ANALYSIS -

We regret Rabbi David Goldberg’s resignation from the IJV steering group ( JC, November 16), for reasons personal to him, but wish to correct several misleading statements.

Far from our enthusiasm being “dissipated”, we continually engage with the Jewish and wider worlds. Apart from providing speakers, contributing articles and preparing a book, we have organised a series of successful public meetings where we promote open and fair debate.

We do not regard, nor have we ever referred to, the Board of Deputies as “the axis of evil”. Many of our signatories, including several rabbis, are deeply involved in the Jewish community.

New supporters are signing on and our enthusiasm has spread to other countries where similar groups are forming. Clearly, we have struck a chord within the Jewish world — something that our critics should not dismiss lightly. Ann Jungman and eight others, IJV Steering Committee ann@barnowlbooks.com
