Mac­cabi Masters are top of the cup shocks

THERE were shocks ga­lore in the first round of the Peter Mor­ri­son Tro­phy South­ern sec­tion. The Mac­cabi Masters rep team proved that age is no bar­rier af­ter ham­mer­ing third di­vi­sion Mon­tana Boca United B 5-0 cour­tesy of strikes from Lau­rence Beck (2), Kevin Lotzhof (2) and Gary Goode.

Fourth di­vi­sion AC Crick­le­wood ended Scrab­ble’s un­beaten run af­ter win­ning on penal­ties. Marc Wag­man put the un­der­dogs ahead di­rect from a cor­ner. Scrab­ble hauled them­selves level through the ever­green Ed Zneimer. With no goals in ex­tra time Crick­le­wood held their nerve in the shootout with El­liot Chalmers, Richard Davis, Si­mon Bar­barash and Si­mon Rit­ter­band con­vert­ing.

Hen­don United C main­tained their im­pres­sive run with a 3-0 suc­cess against Di­vi­sion Two strug­glers Cat­ford & Brom­ley Mac­cabi. Dov Birn­baum, Zvi Noe and Aryeh Goldring eased them through.

Fifth di­vi­sion South Man­cu­ni­ans B nailed Di­vi­sion Four lead­ers FC Team B 6-1. Richard Fo­gel­man (3), War­ren Schenk, Ra­phy Saul and Mark New­man were their marks­men.

Goals from Michael Pear­son, Do­minic Che­niart and Tony Gold booked hold­ers Lon­don Mac­cabi Li­ons A a place in the next round af­ter they beat Glen­thorne United 3-0.

Jay Lawrence led the way with a four- goal salvo as Red­bridge Jewish Care B smashed FC Heath 7-0. Daniel Shafron, su­per­sub Craig Sin­clair and an own goal com­pleted the rout.

FC Team A got back to win­ning ways with Mitch Lass­man (4), Jonny Breger (3), James Ryan (3), Jules Noti and Richard Sternberg en­gi­neer­ing a 12-0 suc­cess over Pin­ner JFC.

Faith­fold B needed ex­tra time to see off a bat­tling dis­play from North Lon­don Raiders B. Jamie Tay­lor (2), Si­mon Wax, El­liott Co­hen, Yoni Rae­burn and Andy Bord net­ted for Faith­fold. Nick Woolf (3) and Dan War­wick hit the tar­get for Raiders.

Cap­tain Lee Cash bagged a brace, in­clud­ing a late win­ner, as North West Neas­den A beat North West Neas­den B 2-1. Phil Gold­stein replied.

Two goals from Alex Bloch plus one apiece from Shim Ben­soor and Danny Co­hen helped Hen­don Hawks to a 4-2 win over FC Team C.

Lon­don Mac­cabi Li­ons B were made to sweat as they came from a goal down to beat Holy Mount Zion 21. Mike Stir­ton gave the Di­vi­sion Three side a shock lead but Andrew My­ers and new sign­ing Gideon Gold en­sured there was no up­set.

Four goals from Greg Corin eased Hen­don United A to a 13-0 win over Life FC. Ben Kon, Josh Bent­ley, Ben For­man and Avi­dan Last bagged braces with Josh Lip­man adding a bril­liant solo ef­fort with a run that started in his own half.

South Man­cu­ni­ans A also went goal crazy with a 9-0 de­mo­li­tion job against Chigwell Ath­letic C. Daniel Kent (4), Craig Cole (3), El­liot Stern and Shai Da­vidi did the dam­age. Gideon Lip­man (2), Josh Caplin and an own goal helped Hen­don United B ac­count for Rapid Banta 4-1.

A stop­page time ef­fort from Ste­fan Ben­fredj earned Red Sea a 4-3 vic­tory over Zig Zag. The Sea­cats trailed three times but a hat-trick from Sacha Ben­fredj kept them in it. Nick Ro­man, Dar­ren Con­way and Zack Glass­man net­ted for the Zeds.

Di­vi­sion One high-fly­ers Mon­tana Boca United A by­passed L’Equipe 2-0 with goals from Gary Co­hen and Trevor He­nen.

Neil Mar­cus (2) and Kane Sw­erner were on the mark as Oak­wood EDRS A beat Faith­fold C 3-1. Dan O’Con­ner scored a con­so­la­tion.

Di­vi­sion Two lead­ers Oak­wood EDRS B held off South­gate Har­men B 4-3. Dan Abrams, Robert Bloch, Robert David­son and Steven Berke put them through. They fin­ished with 10 men af­ter James Beale was sent off for two cau­tion­able of­fences. Si­mon White grabbed a hat-trick for Har­men.

Brady Mac­cabi, Chigwell Ath­letic B and Dy­namoHen­don pro­gressed af­ter re­spec­tive op­po­nents Lon­don Mac­cabi Li­ons Masters, Lon­don Mac­cabi Li­ons C and Ken­ton Mac­cabi de­faulted.
