Sit­ting in a kosher diner in NW Lon­don, eat­ing a very poor plate of salt beef and chips, it oc­curred to me that the strictly kosher have no real idea what meat should taste like. It was only af­ter visit­ing kosher restau­rants in Is­rael that I re­alised that the qual­ity of meat served in kosher restau­rants in the UK is very be­low par when com­pared to the Is­raeli of­fer­ing and most non-kosher es­tab­lish­ments here.
