Schools in net gain

FOOT­BALL MO­RIAH and Clore Shalom won sil­ver­ware at the year five and six Mac­cabi GB Boys and Girls Pri­mary School’s foot­ball tour­na­ment at Pow­er­league in Mill Hill, North-West Neas­den.

More than 250 young­sters took part in the com­pe­ti­tion where 21 boys teams and six girls teams took part.

Mo­riah reached the fi­nal af­ter beat­ing Has­monean 1-0 in a fi­nal set­tled in ex­tra time. They had beaten In­de­pen­dent A in the semi-fi­nal while Has­monean qual­i­fied af­ter see­ing off Mathilda Marks Kennedy A.

Clore Shalom ended Si­mon Marks JPS’s dom­i­na­tion of the girls event with a 4-1 win.

Jo Web­ber, Mac­cabi GB’s Schools and Sports De­vel­op­ment co-or­di­na­tor, com­mented, “It was bril­liant to see so many chil­dren there united in their en­thu­si­asm for sport. It was the largest amount of boys and girls teams that we have had since start­ing th­ese com­pe­ti­tions.”
