Schools in net gain
FOOTBALL MORIAH and Clore Shalom won silverware at the year five and six Maccabi GB Boys and Girls Primary School’s football tournament at Powerleague in Mill Hill, North-West Neasden.
More than 250 youngsters took part in the competition where 21 boys teams and six girls teams took part.
Moriah reached the final after beating Hasmonean 1-0 in a final settled in extra time. They had beaten Independent A in the semi-final while Hasmonean qualified after seeing off Mathilda Marks Kennedy A.
Clore Shalom ended Simon Marks JPS’s domination of the girls event with a 4-1 win.
Jo Webber, Maccabi GB’s Schools and Sports Development co-ordinator, commented, “It was brilliant to see so many children there united in their enthusiasm for sport. It was the largest amount of boys and girls teams that we have had since starting these competitions.”
