Prince Ed­ward be­came the first royal to of­fi­cially par­tic­i­pate in the cel­e­bra­tions of Is­rael’s 60th an­niver­sary on Mon­day evening. The prince was among 300 guests at a UJIA-JNF cham­pagne re­cep­tion and din­ner at Wind­sor Cas­tle. The prince, stand­ing in for his fa­ther Prince Philip, joined the gath­er­ing for a cham­pagne re­cep­tion, leav­ing be­fore din­ner was served. The Band of the Ir­ish Guards ac­com­pa­nied the singing of Hatik­vah and the na­tional an­them in St Ge­orge’s Hall, with toasts made to the Queen and, of course, the State of Is­rael
