Beckhams ‘to send son to LA Jewish nursery’

The Jewish Chronicle - - NEWS - BY NEIL WOLFSON

DAVID AND Victoria Beckham are reportedly planning to send their youngest son, Cruz, to the top Jewish nursery in Los Angeles, attached to a Reform synagogue, the Stephen S Wise Temple.

But Sheryl Cohen, director of the private Early Childhood Centre at the synagogue, was tight-lipped on the issue: “No comment,” she told the JC.

Glen Lehrman, the Beckhams’ spokesman, was equally non-committal: “I cannot comment on the Beckham children.”

The Temple is one of the biggest in the city, with a 3,000-strong congregation, and six rabbis to minister to their spiritual welfare.

Reports this week suggested that Mrs Beckham spent three-and-a-half hours looking round the nursery’s facilities, and the former Manchester United star, who now plays for LA Galaxy, spent the whole day there. The Early Childhood Centre offers “play- dates” for parents who are considering enrolling their offspring.

Although David Beckham has referred to himself as “half Jewish”, it is unclear whether Goldenballs ever encountered a mohel. His maternal grandfather, Joseph West, was Jewish and Beckham said in his autobiography: “I used to wear the skull-caps... and I also went along to some Jewish weddings with my grandfather.”
