The Jewish Chronicle - - COMMENT & ANALYSIS -

As a pupil at Harrow School 1943– 1947, first let me say that the vast majority of pupils were very decent types and I had many friends. However I can personally attest to the fact that among certain masters and pupils antisemitism was rife ( Letters, May 9). As a successful young sportsman in Harrow football, I clearly remember a master shouting, “knock the Jew boy off the ball”.

Despite high achievements on the cricket field, my promotion was clearly not welcomed by the relevant school authorities. Cyril Wick Hampstead Hill Gardens, London NW3
