The Jewish Chronicle - - COMMENT&ANALYSIS -

Being neither famous nor infamous, it was a surprise to find a picture of myself in the JC.

On the front page of your reprint of the Friday, June 4, 1948 edition is a photograph of a group of servicemen with Rabbi Israel Brodie on a Moral Leadership Course. I’m the second on the left, front row. Next to me, third on the left, is Sergeant Peter Conway. Peter was the only other Jewish lad on our intake at RAF Wilmslow in 1947.

We became good friends and I spent many happy weekends at his home in Manchester while we were stationed at Wilmslow. Alas we moved on and lost touch.

I do not have any other way of finding out his whereabouts now. If he is still around, he must be about 80, it would be great to get in touch. Brian Russell (Formerly Russoff) Ranelagh Gardens, Ilford, Essex IG1
