Con­trary to your ref­er­ence to the “late trades-union leader Jack Jones” ( JC, May 23), Jack was in fine form when we cel­e­brated his 95th birth­day on March 29.

He is still, as your ar­ti­cle states, a very “good ex­am­ple of an older per­son who fought for grey rights” and re­mains a very ac­tive life pres­i­dent of the Na­tional Pen­sion­ers’ Con­ven­tion.

We hope he will at­tend the NPC an­nual par­lia­ment in Black­pool next month. Monty Meth Lak­en­heath, Lon­don N14
