It is a shame that your Conservative Party conference sketch ( JC, October 3) did not accurately reflect the true nature of Conservative Friends of Israel (CFI) conference activities.

CFI held a successful fringe meeting attended by Michael Gove, the Israeli ambassador, and 250 delegates. We also held a lunch for senior Conservatives which was attended by over 100 people, at which the guest speaker was Shadow Security Minister Baroness Pauline Neville-Jones.

What distinguishes CFI is that we have strong support from all sections of the party, particularly from the grassroots. Our strength is in depth as well as breadth. Richard Harrington Chairman, Conservative Friends of Israel
