Stephen Pol­lard to be JC ed­i­tor

sTePheN Pol­lARd, the au­thor and po­lit­i­cal colum­nist, has been ap­pointed as ed­i­tor of The Jewish Chron­i­cle to suc­ceed david Rowan.

mr Pol­lard, 43, is a reg­u­lar con­trib­u­tor to the Daily Mail, the Daily Ex­press and The Times, writes a blog for The Spec­ta­tor mag­a­zine and is chair­man of the euro­pean in­sti­tute for the study of con­tem­po­rary An­tisemitism.

Peter levy, the chair­man o f t h e J C ’ s board of direc­tors, said: “stephen is an ex­pe­ri­enced jour­nal­ist with par­tic­u­lar knowl­edge of on­line pre­sen­ta­tion and has over the years been closely in­volved with the com­mu­nity.

“i be­lieve he is ideally suited to lead­ing the JC in the dif­fi­cult and chang­ing eco­nomic and me­dia cli­mate. i look for­ward to work­ing with him.”

mr Pol­lard, who will take up his po­si­tion in mid-Novem­ber, has pre­vi­ously been a chief leader writer for the Daily Ex­press, head of re­search at the so­cial mar­ket Foun­da­tion and re­search di­rec­tor of the Fabian so­ci­ety. he pub­lished a 2004 bi­og­ra­phy of david Blun­kett.

mr Rowan leaves at the end of the month af­ter two-and-a-half years to be­come the launch ed­i­tor of condé Nast’s new mag­a­zine, Wired.
