Stephen Pollard to be JC editor
sTePheN PollARd, the author and political columnist, has been appointed as editor of The Jewish Chronicle to succeed david Rowan.
mr Pollard, 43, is a regular contributor to the Daily Mail, the Daily Express and The Times, writes a blog for The Spectator magazine and is chairman of the european institute for the study of contemporary Antisemitism.
Peter levy, the chairman o f t h e J C ’ s board of directors, said: “stephen is an experienced journalist with particular knowledge of online presentation and has over the years been closely involved with the community.
“i believe he is ideally suited to leading the JC in the difficult and changing economic and media climate. i look forward to working with him.”
mr Pollard, who will take up his position in mid-November, has previously been a chief leader writer for the Daily Express, head of research at the social market Foundation and research director of the Fabian society. he published a 2004 biography of david Blunkett.
mr Rowan leaves at the end of the month after two-and-a-half years to become the launch editor of condé Nast’s new magazine, Wired.
