Norwood road crew
a 400-KILoMeTRe Israel Bike Ride raised £30,000 for norwood’s services for children, families and adults with learning disabilities.
The week-long route took the 12 cyclists through nahariya, the Golan and Galil to a finish in haifa.
as with all of norwood’s international bike rides, adults with learning disabilities who are supported by the charity took part, riding on the back of tandem bikes.
one was Ravenswood Village resident stephen Treisman, who said: “I like going cycling, and I do lots of it every week. I enjoy going to other countries with the other bike riders.”
This year’s series of norwood challenges ends with a south african bike ride. head of challenges Ian Tate pointed out that norwood pioneered the charity bike ride concept in 1992 with a trip to Israel. sixteen years later, the event is still going strong.
“next year’s challenges include participating in the London Marathon or a waterside walk in ascot. If you prefer to get on your bike, you could take part in international rides in India, and Israel.”
